Visit some of the most beautiful waterfalls in Guanacaste, Costa Rica on the Waterfalls Summer Day tour.
While Guanacaste is known to be flat and dry lands, and not exactly the ideal conditions for waterfalls, we take you to discover a few of these hidden gems.
After picking you up in your hotel, we will first head to the Llanos de Cortes Waterfall.
After walking about 300 meters along the dirt road trail to find this hidden treasure, you will see why this 20 meter high and 15 meter wide cascade is considered one of the most beautiful waterfalls in Costa Rica. The wide and wispy falls have thin streams tumbling across the mossy rocks and the rocky cliffs are visible through the clear waters. To add to the majesty, lush forest surrounds the falls and often tropical birds and howler monkeys can heard singing in the trees. This project is managed by the local community, and your visit helps support the local elementary school.
At the base of the water, we find a tranquil pool and a white sandy beach, which allow you the perfect opportunity to swim or sunbathe. Sneak behind the waterfall to sit on the rocks and watch the water cascade down, or allow the lukewarm water to shower you and massage your tired muscles.
Next, we will head to La Ponderosa Preserve, where first you can use the restrooms and lockers, before we head out for a short tractor ride thru the dry-humid forest to discover our next secluded waterfall.
La Vieja Waterfall, is a picture-perfect 20 meter high cascade, with an observation bridge, allowing you to take in all of its beauty, and get those unbelievable pictures, so you can share the exquisiteness with friends and family back home.
Next, we jump back on the 4×4 tractor for a short ride to our final waterfall. La Perla is just over 6 meters high and is an oasis in the hot Liberian summers. This waterfall is a favorite for some dare devils that jump from the top, but it is also popular because of the inviting soft sand that surrounds it, feeling like a beach amidst the dry forest. Lay on the sand, soak in the sun, swim in the refreshing waters, and play the day away.
Finally, we will head back to enjoy a delicious Costa Rican lunch, before returning to your hotel.
